Changelog
New updates and improvements to routebook.io.
November 2026
- AddA new free tool: the flight arrival time calculator. Enter a departure time and see when you land in local time, with the day change, the time back home and the time difference, daylight saving included.
- AddThe great circle map can now draw all your flights at once: paste a list of routes, one per line, and see the total distance, airports, countries and your longest flight. A shared map link now shows the drawn route as its preview.
- ChangeThe free tools have a new look, remember the route in their link so a result can be shared, and link to each other for the same route. The compensation checker now shows the exact EU261 or UK261 sum for the flight's distance, the carbon calculator compares every cabin and the train on short European trips, and some tools can be embedded on other websites.
- FixSearching for an airport by its code now always finds it: SIN, FRA and others were sometimes pushed out of the list by airports whose names contain the same letters. Shared maps with those airports now draw every stop.
- FixThe jet lag calculator no longer overstates long Pacific crossings: Sydney to Los Angeles is 19 hours behind on the clock but a 5-hour shift for your body, and the adjustment estimate now says 5 days instead of 13.
- AddA map of your countries on Statistics → Countries. Every country you've been to is coloured in, with your home country and the ones you only changed planes in marked apart. Tap a country to see when and how you were there: first and last visit, flights, nights, and a timeline of your arrivals, departures and hotel stays. Filter by Visited, Not visited (to see what's still to go) or Transit only, by region, and by how you travelled. Pinch and drag to zoom, and on a phone tap the map to explore it full screen. It follows the year you pick at the top of Statistics.
- AddCountries you add yourself can now have a year. Open the country on the map and choose it under Edit how you travelled, and the country shows up when you look at that year.
- ChangeStatistics now counts countries the same way as your Flight passport: countries you stayed in with a hotel count too, so your total may go up.
October 2026
- AddNew on Statistics: Around the globe. How many times your flights would circle the Earth, how often you crossed the equator and the date line, flights that went inside the Arctic or Antarctic Circle, and your northernmost and southernmost airports. Antarctica can now be added as a country you reached by ship or plane, counting towards all seven continents. Choose your passport's cover colour on the Flight passport page, and a trip's cover photo with Set as cover photo. Around the globe is in the app too.
- AddTrips (Beta): give your travel a name. Group flights and hotel stays into a trip from the new Trips page, or from any flight or stay with Add to a trip, and routebook suggests trips from the flights you haven't grouped yet. The trip's name shows on its flights in your flight log, so you can see what each trip was about. A trip page shows its route, an itinerary of flights and stays, a map, what it cost, and your photos from it: on an iPhone they come straight from your Photos library, without their location data. 3 photos per trip on the free plan, 100 with Pro. Share a trip as a page, or merge two trips into one. Trip tags you gave hotel stays are now trips, and trips you made earlier are still there. On the website and in the app, where trips work offline and photos come from your phone's library.
- AddFlight and hotel pages now show where they sit in your logbook. On a flight: its number in your log, how often you've flown the route, the airline and the aircraft type, firsts like a new country or airport, a spot among your longest or shortest flights, your average delay on that flight number, and the hotel it took you to. On a stay: its number, your nights in that city and country, stays with the chain, how its length compares, weekend nights, and the flights there and back. On the website and in the app, where it works offline.
- AddStatistics now ranks your longest and shortest flights in a table, by distance (in km or miles, as set in your preferences) or by flight time. Turn on One per route to see each route only once. On the website and in the app.
- Addroutebook now speaks French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian and Hindi. Pick yours under Settings → Preferences → Language. The app, the legal pages and every email follow your choice.
- AddThe free tools, and the airport and route pages, are now available in every language.
- AddImport your flights from OpenFlights. Upload its CSV export under Settings → Import Flights, next to Flightradar24 and Flighty, and review every flight before it's saved. Free on every plan.
- AddShare a trip as a page. Choose Share a trip in the ⋯ menu on the Flights or Hotels page, or select a few flights or stays: routebook gathers every flight and stay in those dates, and you untick what doesn't belong. The link stops working after 1, 7 or 30 days, and shows months instead of exact dates unless you choose otherwise. Prices and booking details are never included. See and remove your links under Settings → Public profile.
- AddAdd trips by email (Pro · Beta, with 3 free tries): forward a flight or hotel booking confirmation to your personal address under Settings → Add by email, or set up a Gmail or Outlook rule to do it for you. routebook reads it and puts the flights and stays in a review list, and nothing is added until you confirm. You get a short reply each time saying what was found. The email itself is never stored.
- AddCalendar sync (Pro): see your flights and hotel stays in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook. Create your link under Settings → Calendar and add it with one click. New trips, gates and delays update there on their own (within about a day in Google Calendar).
- ChangeExporting hotel stays to CSV is now free on every plan, under Settings → Export to CSV.
- AddPro prices now show an approximate amount in your local currency next to the US dollar price.
- AddTwo new achievement tiers above Platinum: Diamond and Legend. Distance Chaser now goes past the Moon, to the Moon and back (768,800 km) and Million Miler (1,000,000 miles). Continent Hopper has a Platinum tier for all 7 continents, and more badges gained Platinum and Diamond tiers.
- FixFleet Fresh and Old Timer now use the aircraft's age on the day you flew, so Fleet Fresh no longer disappears after a year. Perfect Week now needs a flight on 7 days in a row, and Triangle Flyer a triangle flown within 30 days.
- FixYour public profile and badge emails now count your manually added countries and aircraft ages, like Statistics does. Badge emails show every badge name in your language.
- FixFlighty and OpenFlights imports now add every aircraft type in your file, not only the first one.
- FixOn wide screens, the menu at the top right no longer sticks out past the edge of the page.
September 2026
- AddInvite friends. Share your invite link from Settings → Invite. Once a friend has logged three flights, you both get a month of Pro, and you can earn up to a year.
- AddFlight Passport: your travels as a passport, with a stamp for every country (including the ones you reached by road or sea), chapters by year, personal records and a link you can share.
- AddFlight prices: record what a ticket cost, in the currency you paid, and see what your flying cost in Statistics. Exchange rates are frozen on the day you log the price.
- AddFlightradar24 imports now work, and you see the flights before anything is saved.
- ChangeA new look across the app: flights shown as boarding passes, a redesigned flight page with a timeline, and reworked dashboard, map, statistics, achievements and hotel pages.
- ChangeSeats, delays and CO₂ have their own sections in Statistics. CO₂ is now calculated with the DEFRA 2026 factors, banded by flight distance.
- FixLong-haul flights now get their actual arrival times, and same-day connections are listed in the order you flew them.
- FixSeveral wrong numbers on the Statistics page, and dates that could shift by a day depending on time zone.
August 2026
- ChangeThe free plan now logs every flight, with no yearly or total limit. Imports from other trackers are free too. Pro is about automation: lookups, live status and hotel imports.
- AddCompensation hints: when a flight arrives three or more hours late or is cancelled, routebook tells you if EU/UK, Canadian or Brazilian passenger rules may entitle you to compensation.
- AddGoogle Timeline Import (Pro) — find past hotel stays in a Google Timeline export from your phone. The file is read entirely in your browser and never uploaded; only the stays you pick are saved, and you see what each one would cost to look up before anything is spent. Hotels → Add Stay → Google Timeline Import.
- ChangeTimeline exports now come from the Google Maps app rather than Google Takeout — your Timeline is stored on your phone, so Takeout no longer includes it. The import dialog has the steps for Android and iPhone.
- AddMissing details, tidied up — the reminder on the Hotels page can now be closed, leads with the number of stays affected, and makes it obvious the gaps can be filled in right there. Fixing them also moved into the list menu, next to Select stays.
- AddSettings → Hotels → Check all stays again — brings back the missing-detail prompts you had waved off, without changing anything you already filled in.
July 2026
- AddHotels (Beta) — now open to everyone. Track your hotel stays alongside your flights: log stays manually or import your bookings from Booking.com and Agoda with the routebook browser extension. See nights per year, favorite chains, spend by currency, and a map of everywhere you've stayed. Opt in under Settings → Hotels.
